If your child knows every song on the radio and can’t stop listening to their iPod, this is a great class that will help them pursue a passion for music while at the same time learning technology. Students will learn how to search iTunes, purchase music, and how to read Billboard top charts. They will have the opportunity to create playlists with this music and tailor their tunes to diverse audiences at a variety of events.

Students will also learn how sound travels through manipulating and experimenting with industry standard DJ equipment that includes speakers, smaller controllers, and introductory level DJ digital software. As they begin to understand how this technology works, students will learn some of the basic business skills required to operate a DJ business. They will practice customer service and social skills both in person and on the phone, practice their money management and banking skills.

They will boost self-confidence through learning socially appropriate announcements and how to lead dances and games to use during a party. Through their work in the DJ program, students will understand how to feel more comfortable and begin to lead celebrations and party situations.
