Pathways sports teams are a great opportunity for young children to explore and learn the rules of a multitude of sports such as basketball! They will be able to increase their coordination, increase focus and attention spans, and following directions. The sports programs all have a challenging, but less competitive feel to them so students can focus more on having fun and developing social skills. These programs can also serve as segues into more competitive teams if students are interested.
Coaches in these programs are trained and have many years of experience working with students of all abilities. The drills are typically broken down into smaller components and the games into manageable and fun experiences. Most importantly, all of our sports programs use the “children teaching children” model and have mentors that act as buddies to the children which helps them learn even more how to enjoy all kinds of sports on the fields and courts.
Our basketball program for students 8 and above program is designed to give children the foundation of skills to play basketball and to work as a team on the court. They will play in real games against each other. Come join in us for lots of fun and social interaction!
Our basketball coach is Melinda Jennis who was an avid basketball player in middle and high school and played on championship teams. She has coached our basketball teams for years and recruits mentors that love the sport and teaching others how to play it!
